Darr, 22, of Jersey City, had an outstanding $1,000 warrant out of Jersey City Municipal Court. Darr posted cash bail and was released on his own recognizance. • At 9:41 p.m. on Sunday, Jonathan Arias, 21, of Morristown, was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and it was determined that he was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia. A pssenger, Daniel R. Godfrey, 21, of East Orange, was wanted on a warrant out of Morristown. Arias was cahrged wiht possession of a CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, CDS in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was charged and released. Godfrey was turned over to Morristown police. • On Friday, Javier Quiroga, 34, of Mansfield, was arrested on an $89 Mansfield Twp municipal court traffic warrant. Quiroga posted the bail and was then released.• On Saturday, Sean Tasick, 46, of Hackettstown, was arrested on a $716 Hackettstown municipal court traffic warrant. He posted bail and was then released.• On Saturday, Melvin Turnstall Jr., 40, of Hackettstown, was arrested on a $120 Hackettstown Municipal Court warrant. Turnstall posted the bail and was then released.• At 9:18 p.m. on Monday, an officer initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle on Route 46 for a moving violation. While the officer was talking to the driver, Joseph Cullen, 20, of Allamuchy, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to perform the field sobriety tests and had a multi colored glass pipe containing suspected burnt marijuana. Cullen was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated and driving while using a cell phone. He was released pending a court appearance. • At 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 23, Patrolman Eric Magley responded to Planet Fitness on Route 10 on a report of a passed counterfeit bill. A $100 bill had been passed the previous evening. The manager at the location reported that a female asking about membership information asked if she could purchase two Gatorades and handed the employee a $100 bill. The employee asked if she had anything smaller and she replied no. The following day the bank called and reported the bill as fake. The female is described as mid 40’s, wearing a black shirt and grey sweatshirt and dark hair. The $100 bill was placed into evidence and the Secret Service was notified. The investigation is continuing. • At 5 p.m. on Friday, Patrolman Christopher Martino responded to 440 Route 10 on a report of a theft of batteries from a cell phone site. Martino spoke to a Sprint representative who stated that he was dispatched to the location to service the equipment. The representative stated as soon as he removed the battery cover he noticed all the batteries were missing. The last time the site was serviced was about eight months ago. The 12 volt batteries are worth a reported $10, 488.00. The scene was processed by Detective Glenn Yanovak.• At 10:16 p.m. on Friday, Sgt. Anthony Vitanza arrested Anthony J. Marotta Sr., 53, of Palm Coast, Fla., and charged him with driving while intoxicated after Marotta had driven over a snow bank in a bar parking lot where he was found by Vitanza. Marotta was brought to HQ where he was processed and released to a friendJEFFERSON• On Feb. 9, Officer Sean Krater observed a vehicle speeding and attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. With assistance from state police and the Wharton Police Department, the driver eventually stopped on Route 80 East near mile marker 34.9. The driver identified as Nassim Benghezal, 42, of Bloomfield was charged with eluding and issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding, failure to signal and failure to maintain lane. He was later released pending a Municipal Court appearance.• On Feb. 12, while performing a property check of Briggs School, Cpl. Doug Martin observed spray painted graffiti on a front window.• On Feb. 12, a resident of Espanong Road left her purse in a shopping cart at Pathmark. The purse was found and turned in by a customer; $10 and a Macy’s card were missing from purse. The card was found later and returned to owner.• On Feb. 12, John Teague, 33, of Newton and William Vanluvender, 41, of Sparta, were arrested on warrants at the scene of a motor vehicle stop. Teague posted $1000 for an Andover Twp. warrant and was released on bail. Vanluvender was turned over to Sussex County Sheriff’s Department on a no bail warrant. • On Feb. 14, Tessa Barton, 18, of Mountain Lakes, was arrested at scene of a motor vehicle stop after she was found to be in possession of suspected “Molly.” Barton was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was later released pending a Municipal Court appearance.• On Feb. 16, the video screen to the Red Box machine outside the CVS Pharmacy was damaged by unknown actor(s). The value of the damage was estimated to be $700.• Alberto Vergara, 21, of Dover, was observed leaving CVS Pharmacy with 10 cans of baby formula. A vehicle description was given and he was subsequently stopped by Officer Chet Glazewski on Berkshire Valley Road. A search revealed several syringes and paraphernalia along with the 10 cans of powdered baby formula with an estimated value of over $200. He was charged with shoplifting and possession of hypodermic needle and drug paraphernalia and was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2500 bail.• On Feb. 19, Salvatore Caruso, 63, of Jefferson, was arrested for attempting to cash a check at Bank of America. The check was received from a woman in New Hampshire which appeared to be part of a Jamaican check cashing scam. He was charged with fraud and later lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility on $5000 bail.LINCOLN PARK• On Feb. 27, Patrolman M. Bono was in the area of Two Bridges Road when he noticed a white Acura with numerous equipment violations so he stopped it and spoke to the driver, Joseph Myers, age 21, of West Orange, and detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the passenger compartment. Myers was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and issued one motor vehicle summons. He was released with a pending court date.LONG HILL• Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 12:51 p.m. on Feb. 22 on Valley Road near Mountain Avenue. Andrew Masini, 53, Florham Park, was attempting to turn left from the driveway of 630 Valley Road, traveling south. Kwok Man was travelling west on Valley Road when he entered left turn only lane on Valley Road. Masini entered the roadway and crashed into Man. Masini stated that he attempted to turn left through a gap in westbound traffic, which had stopped to let him enter the roadway. He looked both ways, then attempted the turn but did not see Man until the crash. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported. Masini was issued a summons for careless driving. • Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 3:54 p.m. on Feb. 23 on Valley Road near Morristown Road. Stephanie Gleason, 36, of Springfield, was stopped in traffic for a red traffic signal facing westbound on Valley Road near the intersection with Morristown Road. Karen Brady, 52, of Berkeley Heights, was also stopped in traffic facing westbound directly behind Gleason. Brady mistakenly believed that Gleason had begun to move. Brady rolled forward colliding with Gleason. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported and no summonses were issued.• Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 2:03 p.m. on Feb. 25 North Avenue by Chestnut Street. Francis Helfrich, 86, of Basking Ridge, was traveling north on North Avenue from Elm Street. Helfrich’s front bumper struck a stone wall on the front yard of 150 North Ave. Helfrich stated as he was driving north his vehicle began to accelerate on its own. Helfrich said he used both feet to apply the brake but the brake would not engage. Helfrich’s vehicle sustained damage to the front bumper and under carriage. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported and no summonses were issued.MOUNT OLIVE• At 1:18 p.m. on Saturday, Officer David Hering was dispatched to Walmart located inside the ITC Mall Complex in regards to a shoplifter in custody of Walmart Loss Prevention. Fortunato Criscuolo, 28, of Netcong, was charged with shoplifting and released on his own recognizance with a pending court appearance.• At 2:01 a.m. on Saturday, Officer Ryan Eastridge was patrolling Route 46 in the area of Village Way when he observed a 2011 Honda traveling Route 46 fail to maintain a lane on multiple occasions. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at which time the driver, Michael Rhodes, 31, of Budd Lake, appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Elbaum conducted field sobriety tests and Rhodes was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. Rhodes was released to a sober driver and he has a pending court appearance. • At 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, Cpl. Paul Ottavinia was patrolling Route 46 in the area of Woodland Avenue. Corporal Ottavinia observed a 2007 Cadillac traveling Route 46 East fail to maintain a lane and also was traveling with the vehicles trunk open. A motor vehicle stop was conducted at which time the driver, Maria Ayala, 45, of Budd Lake, appeared to be impaired due to alcohol consumption. Ottavinia conducted field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with DWI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane. Ayala was released to a sober driver and she has a pending court appearance.ROCKAWAY• At 7:22 p.m. on Feb. 20, Eugene Manzini, 37, of Rockaway, was detained on an active Dover Joint Municipal Court warrant. The arrest came subsequent to a motor vehicle stop when the warrant was discovered. Bail was $500, which Manzini posted and was then given a new Court Date.• At 12:21 a.m. hours on Feb. 21, Wilder A. Guardia, 20, of Rockaway, was arrested by Officer David Flynn for possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle. The arrest came after a motor vehicle stop on Church Street. Wilder was processed, served his complaint and released with a court date.• At 12:29 a.m. on Feb. 21, Alinoel P. Navia, 22, of Roseland, was arrested and charged by Officer Peter Krowiak with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle accident at 280 East Main St.• At 5:04 p.m. on Feb. 26, Jeremy V. Gilcher, 29, of Rockaway Twp., was processed on an active Dover Joint Municipal Court warrant. Bail was $89 which Gilcher posted and was then given a new court date.WASHINGTON TWP.• On Sunday, police responded to the intersection of Route 46 and Target Drive for the report of a motor vehicle accident. A beige Toyota sedan had rear ended a pickup truck at the traffic light. Officer Scott Myers made contact with the driver of the Toyota, identified as Brant Rahmann of Califon, and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. Rahmann subsequently failed a series of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI and charged with reckless driving, driving while suspended and tailgaiting. Rahmann was released pending a future court date.• At 3:08 a.m. Saturday, Cpl. David Marut conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Gray Honda Civic for speeding on East Mill Road and detected an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, Charles Lay, 22, of Great Meadows. Lay was charged with DWI, reckless driving, speeding and driving while suspended.
